Here at InStyle LED a very common question is asked, “What wattage goes where” when people are looking to install LED lights into their kitchens.

Choosing the colour of the lights is an important factor to look at because the light source can add to the aesthetics of your kitchen design or completely take it away, it all just depends on your design and what you want from it. Most popular kitchen light set ups use both white and warm white combinations around the kitchen for setting a tone and for practical reasons.

In the image above you can see that a Warm White LED Strip Lights has been used around the kick boards which gives an edge of light around the room and as you can see in the image it also bring attention to the unit in the centre, so at night you can see it much better and will help you not stub your toe while walking around. In the background of the image you can see a surface that is illuminated by White LED Strip Lights which have been placed under the hanging cabinets. The reason white light has been chosen for this area is because the white light makes it easier on your eyes to see the area where you can prepare your food, making it safer for using your kitchen utensils.

With this in mind the different areas require different wattages to achieve each goal for the desired area, for the the lights around the kick boards the best wattage for this area would be to use 5 watts per metre. For the lights underneath the hanging cabinets shining onto the work surface 15 watts per metre is an ideal solution for this area.

If you are still unsure if this you suit your project, our friendly sale staff will talk you through what is best for your project. You can contact us via E-mail at sales@instyleled.co.uk or via phone on 0116 2799 083.
