Nestled in Spring Gardens, right at the heart of Manchester’s upper King Street precinct, Roc & Rye is a unique craft coffee and cocktail bar that aims to bring new character and inspiration to the city’s drinks scene. The Grade II listed venue has been enhanced by a nightclub-quality LED lighting array, supplied and programmed by InStyle LED.
The multizone LED installation used more than 100 metres of RGBW LED strip lights (warm-white option, approx. 3000K), housed in frosted aluminium profiles and installed across nine sunken coffers in the period-style feature ceiling.
The strip lights are complemented by nine chandelier-style LED pendants.
InStyle supplied the LED strips all cut and soldered to the exact lengths required, so they were ready to be mounted along the coffer edges straight out of the box.
Nicolaudie programming & control
Because Roc & Rye’s atmosphere after dark should feel very different to the daytime, we were commissioned to create bespoke programming to run eight lighting sequences.
Designed to specifications drawn up by the project’s installers (Imperial Engineering & Construction of Haydock, St Helens), the lighting programs are all controlled via a sleek Nicolaudie wall-panel.
Here are the LED programs we created. Each can be called by simply keying a button on the Nicolaudie wall-control.
- White + Pendant
- 10 Second Colour Scroll
- 5 Second Colour Scroll + Pendant
- 5 Second Colour Change Red/Purple/Blue + Pendant
- 5 Second Random Colour Mix + Pendant
- Strobe Colour Change Red/Purple/Blue + Pendant
- Strobe Random Colour Mix + Pendant
- White Strobe + Pendant
The same buttons also provide brightness/dimming and preset static colours.
