Made-to-Measure LED Neon Flex from InStyle LED

If you have been searching for custom length Neon Flex, cut-to-size LED Neon Flex or a supplier who can provide made-to-measure Neon Flex, you may already have discovered something frustrating: finding the Neon Flex itself is easy; finding a supplier willing and able to prepare it to the exact lengths required for your project can be considerably harder.

This is particularly problematic for electricians, lighting designers, shopfitters, sign makers, joiners, interior designers and other trade professionals.

Most projects aren’t designed around convenient reel lengths. A lighting detail might need to be 1.85 metres long, an architectural feature could require several different sections, or a commercial installation may need dozens of individually specified lengths.

At InStyle LED, bespoke LED lighting isn’t an occasional extra service. Made-to-measure LED lighting is one of our specialities.

We can supply LED Neon Flex cut and prepared to the lengths required for your project, helping reduce installation time, material waste and the need to carry out specialist preparation on site. InStyle’s current Neon Flex range includes white, single-colour, colour-changing, RGBW, top-bend, side-bend and 360° options.

Can You Get Neon Flex Cut to a Custom Length?

Yes. InStyle LED can supply Neon Flex cut to custom lengths.

Rather than purchasing full lengths and carrying out all of the cutting and preparation yourself, tell us the dimensions you require and our team can prepare the Neon Flex for your installation.

There is one important point to understand, however: Neon Flex cannot necessarily be cut at absolutely any measurement.

Like LED strip, each Neon Flex product has designated cut points. The precise spacing depends on the product. For example, some products in our current range have cut points every 50mm, while other models use different intervals. The finished custom length therefore needs to correspond with an appropriate cut point for the particular Neon Flex being specified.

If your project requires a very specific measurement, speak to us before ordering. We can identify the most appropriate product and advise on the closest available cut length.

For trade users, this means you don’t have to become an expert in every variation of Neon Flex before requesting a quotation. Give us the project information and dimensions and we’ll help work out the appropriate solution.

Custom length Neon Flex

Why Is Custom Length Neon Flex Difficult to Find?

A large proportion of LED lighting is sold primarily as an off-the-shelf product.

The business model is simple: manufacture or import standard reels or lengths, put them into stock and dispatch them when somebody places an order.

That’s perfectly adequate when a customer simply wants a reel of LED lighting.

It is less useful when a contractor has a drawing containing numerous individual lighting runs, each with different measurements.

Cutting and preparing Neon Flex requires additional work. The correct cutting points need to be identified, appropriate connections and accessories need to be considered and the completed product needs to be suitable for the intended installation.

Many online LED retailers are simply not set up to provide that level of bespoke preparation.

InStyle LED is.

Our wider LED service is built around made-to-measure lighting. In addition to supplying products in standard lengths, we regularly prepare bespoke LED systems for projects, including cutting, soldering and preparing lighting before it leaves us.

That same bespoke approach makes us particularly well suited to trade customers looking for custom Neon Flex.

What Is LED Neon Flex?

LED Neon Flex is designed to create the appearance of a continuous illuminated line.

Rather than the individual points of light that can sometimes be visible with conventional LED strip, the LEDs are enclosed within a flexible diffusing housing. This creates a smooth, uniform illuminated surface without distracting hotspots.

InStyle’s Neon Flex is designed to produce this continuous light effect while retaining the flexibility required to create curves, outlines and other architectural details.

It makes Neon Flex suitable for applications ranging from relatively simple linear lighting to far more creative designs.

Typical applications include architectural features, bars and restaurants, hotels, retail displays, reception areas, signage, feature walls, furniture, entertainment venues, landscape features and high-end residential interiors.

The important difference compared with traditional glass neon is versatility. LED Neon Flex provides the visual effect of a continuous illuminated line without relying on fragile glass tubing.

Why Order Neon Flex Cut to Size?

For experienced installers, cutting lighting products on site may not initially sound like a problem.

But multiply that task across an entire project and the advantages of made-to-measure supply quickly become apparent.

Imagine a commercial interior requiring 30 separate Neon Flex runs.

Each section needs to be measured, cut at an appropriate cut point and prepared correctly. The installer may also need to consider cable entry, connections, drivers, controls and mounting accessories.

Doing everything on site consumes valuable installation time.

With a bespoke service, much of that work can be moved away from the site and into the preparation stage.

The installer receives sections manufactured around the project dimensions rather than starting with standard lengths and adapting everything during installation.

For busy contractors, that can be a significant advantage.

Less Waste and Fewer Unwanted Offcuts

Custom lengths can also help reduce waste.

Buying standard lengths inevitably means that some projects generate offcuts. Although some pieces may be reusable elsewhere, unusual lengths frequently end up sitting in the back of a van or workshop.

Across a large commercial project, those leftover pieces can add up.

Ordering around the actual project requirements allows the specification to be planned more accurately.

This is particularly valuable where a project contains numerous different dimensions rather than repeated identical runs.

It can also make costing more predictable because the lighting package is being planned around what the installation actually requires.

Custom Neon Flex for Trade Projects

Our bespoke service is particularly useful for electricians, electrical contractors, lighting designers, architects, interior designers, shopfitters, kitchen companies, joiners, sign makers and commercial fit-out specialists.

We understand that trade customers often aren’t looking for an isolated lighting product.

You’re trying to deliver a finished project.

That distinction matters.

You may have a drawing showing ten separate runs of Neon Flex, a driver location in a plant room, several control zones and restrictions on where cables can be routed.

Simply being told which reel to buy doesn’t solve the problem.

InStyle LED can provide design and consultation assistance and help specify the wider system, including suitable drivers, controllers and accessories. The company’s Neon Flex range is supported by a broader range of LED drivers and control options, including RF, DMX, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, DALI and other control technologies depending on the lighting type and project.

This allows the conversation to start with “This is what we’re trying to achieve”, rather than simply “Which product do I need?”

White, RGB, RGBW and Specialist Neon Flex

Custom length doesn’t mean you are restricted to one basic type of Neon Flex.

The InStyle LED range includes a wide selection of options for different applications, including white, single-colour and colour-changing Neon Flex, as well as RGBW and specialist 360° products. Top-bend and side-bend options are also available.

Choosing between them depends on the project.

For a clean architectural detail, white Neon Flex may be all that’s required.

Bars, restaurants, entertainment spaces and retail environments may benefit from colour-changing options.

RGBW can provide colour-changing capability alongside a dedicated white channel, while specialist products such as 360° Neon Flex open up completely different possibilities where illumination needs to be visible around the body of the fitting.

This is another reason it can be useful to discuss the project before ordering.

The question isn’t only “What length do you need?”

It’s also “What are you trying to achieve?”

Top Bend or Side Bend Neon Flex?

One of the most important considerations when specifying Neon Flex is its bending direction.

Neon Flex is flexible, but that doesn’t mean every product should be bent in every direction.

Top-bend Neon Flex and side-bend Neon Flex are designed to flex on different axes. The correct choice depends on the shape, curves and orientation of your installation.

This becomes especially important with bespoke lengths.

Supplying a product at precisely the correct length is of little benefit if it cannot physically follow the shape of the intended installation.

When requesting a quotation, therefore, it can be helpful to provide drawings, photographs or plans showing not only the measurements but also how the Neon Flex needs to travel around the feature.

Our team can then help identify an appropriate product before the material is prepared.

Can Custom Neon Flex Be Supplied for Outdoor Projects?

Neon Flex is frequently specified for exterior and other demanding installations, but the product and connections must be appropriate for the environment.

InStyle’s main Neon Flex range includes IP67-rated products, and our broader made-to-measure service includes solutions for internal and external LED installations.

Waterproofing should never be treated as an afterthought.

If the installation is outside, in a bathroom, around a bar, near water or anywhere else exposed to moisture, tell us when discussing the project.

That allows the complete system to be considered appropriately rather than simply supplying a length of lighting and leaving the installer to solve the environmental protection afterwards.

What Information Do We Need for Bespoke Neon Flex?

You don’t need to produce a complicated technical specification before contacting us.

If you already know exactly what you require, great. Send us the specification and the individual lengths.

If you don’t, that’s fine too.

For more involved bespoke projects, useful information can include the required lengths, quantities, installation location, whether the project is internal or external, preferred colour or colour-changing requirements, bending direction, control requirements and the intended locations of power supplies.

For bespoke projects, sketches and plans can also be extremely useful. InStyle’s bespoke service can work from project dimensions and information about power locations to help develop the appropriate lighting package.

This is particularly useful for larger installations where multiple lengths, drivers or control zones are involved.

Made to Measure Means Easier Installation

The objective of bespoke LED preparation isn’t simply to sell somebody an unusual length of lighting.

It’s to make the eventual installation easier.

That principle runs throughout InStyle LED’s made-to-measure service.

We already prepare cut-to-length LED strip systems, including custom cable arrangements and project-specific preparation. For suitable projects, LED profiles can also be cut to length as part of the wider lighting package.

The same philosophy applies to Neon Flex: prepare as much as practical before the product reaches site.

For contractors, that can mean less time modifying products, fewer unexpected compatibility problems and a much more straightforward installation.

Need Multiple Custom Lengths? That’s Not a Problem

“Custom length” doesn’t have to mean one unusual measurement.

A project might require:

2 × 1,250mm
4 × 2,100mm
1 × 3,450mm
6 × 850mm

Or it could involve considerably more.

That’s exactly the type of requirement a bespoke lighting supplier is designed to deal with.

Send us the schedule of lengths or project drawing and we can help determine what is possible with the chosen Neon Flex, taking its cut-point intervals into account.

For larger projects, discussing the specification before purchasing also gives us an opportunity to identify any potential issues while changes are still easy to make.
