Tape-to-tape connector disadvantages
- They do not fit in all extrusions (because they are too wide)
- You need to join the strip on section that does not have a bump of solder or it will not fit on
Flexible lead connector disadvantages
- Cable is a fixed length
- The cable can be hard to hide, as there is often too much excess length
- They do not fit in all extrusions (because they are too wide)
- You need to join the strip on section that does not have a bump of solder or it will not fit on
Starter lead cable
- Cable is a fixed length
- The cable is short (just 150mm) so you need have the transformer close or extend the cable, which means another join – so 2 joins within 150mm of the LED tape
- They do not fit in all extrusions (because they are too wide)
- You need to join the strip on section that does not have a bump of solder or it will not fit on
Advantages of bespoke
The cables can be any length – meaning the corner links can be smaller, the starter leads can be longer, and there is no added width to the connections (because the solder joins are smaller than the PCB width of the strip).
