A brilliant reception

This brilliant business reception-area backlight panel, built around InStyle’s popular RGBW LED light strips, was constructed and installed by Pixellent Display Systems of Sidcup.

The nine LED light panels are all separate units. Each one is a 3mm aluminium sheet, waterjet cut and powder coated, bonded to 5mm opal acrylic. The full installation stands a mammoth 6.3 metres in height – Matt at Pixellent described the installation of the three upper panels as an ‘interesting’ challenge!

Pixellent used a massive 90 metres of 20-watt RGBW LED tape to create this project. (For the white LED chips, they chose a warm-white light tone – around 2700 Kelvin, very similar to traditional incandescent lighting.) InStyle supplied the tape pre-cut and pre-soldered into 42 equal lengths (2.1m each), each with an additional 1m starter-lead for ease of connection.

Each LED light panel has its own power supply and receiver housed inside – so that’s 9 x 320-watt Meanwell transformers (IP65-rated) and 9 x wireless multichannel receivers, all managed remotely by one of our hand-held 8-zone LED controllers.

“Everything was spot on,” says Matt, “and everybody says how good it looks.”
