The main cause of damage is twisting the LED strip in the wrong direction. Many people will say, ‘well, why would I twist the strip in that way?’ Well this can happen by accident!

The thing is, usually people bring in installers to fit their LEDs, who may not have handled them before. Extra care needs to be taken when installing the LED strips – after all, they’re fragile components.

Most issues occur by accident. You may be sticking the LED strip into place while having the rest of the length of strip hanging down, and you may cause a sharp twist in the LED strip causing it to bend and damage the LED tape.

The damage may make a section (or a colour of that section) not work. This is because a section of the strip’s solder has come apart.

Always be aware of how the strip is positioned when moving / handling the strip, and that way you can easily avoid this costly mistake.
