Check out our new vlog.
On many projects the LED strips are installed first, and then the painters come in to paint the area. They can get splashes of paint (or more!) on the installed LED strips, and this causes the LED light to appear a different colour, or even look to like they are not working at all!
The big giveaway is if there are multiple sections that appear to be a different colour, or more dim than the rest of the strip.
This can happen with any substance that obscures the face of your LEDs – not just paint, but also silicone or a No-More-Nails type of adhesive, or anything similar,
Can the painted strip be saved?
It all depends on how much of the LED strip is covered. We have managed to carefully scrape the paint of our customers’ LED tapes in the past, and the strip has been fine.
(Do not use water to clean the LEDs if the strips are for interior installations – i.e., not waterproof!)
Why InStyle LED?
We stock all of these LED strips for next day delivery.
We can cut and solder LED strips to exact lengths for you, and can solder in any corner links and custom length starter leads.
You can provide us with the lengths or, even better, a quick sketch of your area with the lengths written on them – and we can advise the best way to wire up the strips.
We can speak to any installers, before, during and after your project to answer any questions.
